Improve blood circulation can help any man suffering from prostate issues.
In general, men usually tend to shy away from yoga classes because typically it’s been mostly, a female activity.
Now, it seems more men are turning to yoga to improve prostate health.
Here are three poses that can help your prostate health:
- Cobbler pose
- Bow pose
- Boat pose
Yogajournal.com have some great advice and information on how to do specific poses.
Here are the first two steps they recommend for performing the Boat pose correctly:
Sit on the floor with your legs straight in front of you. Press your hands on the floor a little behind your hips, fingers pointing toward the feet, and strengthen the arms. Lift through the top of the sternum and lean back slightly. As you do this make sure your back doesn’t round; continue to lengthen the front of your torso between the pubis and top sternum. Sit on the “tripod” of your two sitting bones and tailbone.
Exhale and bend your knees, then lift your feet off the floor, so that the thighs are angled about 45-50 degrees relative to the floor. Lengthen your tailbone into the floor and lift your pubis toward your navel. If possible, slowly straighten your knees, raising the tips of your toes slightly above the level of your eyes. If this isn’t possible remain with your knees bent, perhaps lifting the shins parallel to the floor.
The best part about yoga is that you can practice it at home. If you enjoy getting out of the house and meeting new people then finding a local yoga studio won’t be too difficult.
If you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, then the latest research proves that yoga helps men that are also having radiation therapy.
Men that incorporated yoga into their treatment plans have more energy and dealt with the treatment better than those that didn’t.
Men that performed yoga also experienced other positive side-effects. Erectile dysfunction scores were a lot higher for men that did yoga.
Researchers weren’t able to confirm if it was the social element that helped these men or the increased feelings of wellbeing as a result of the yoga.
We haven’t seen any negative effects on prostate health from taking up yoga. It can only help men suffering from ill prostate health.
Try yoga in addition to any other treatments you’re taking and experience the benefits for yourself.
